2011 NFL Draft prospect, Nevada Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick is making waves in the process already. While he isn’t listed yet as one of the top QB prospects he is catching the eye of scouts and media at the 2011 Senior Bowl practices this week. In a year when there is not a lot of drool factor (thanks Andrew Luck) at the QB position, we could see Kaepernick emerge through the draft process as one of the top prospects.

Adam Caplan says:

He’s clearly the best quarterback out of the six and it’s not even close. If he has a great performance during February’s NFL Combine, it’s not out of the question that Kaepernick goes in the first round.

Mike Mayock says:

“Kaepernick I think is a great project,” Mayock said. “He’s got mechanical issues, but he’s got a big arm and someone is going to develop him.”

Rob Rang says:

There are concerns about Kaepernick’s transition from Chris Ault’s Pistol offense to a pro-style system, but the Nevada passer clearly has spent the time off working on his dropback from center. Kaepernick was the North team’s most impressive passer Monday, threading the needle on most occasions and demonstrating spectacular arm strength.

Colin Kaepernick says:

“I’m portrayed as a little bit more of a raw athlete than quarterbacks that run an NFL-style system, but this week I really wanted to show that my physical tools, my footwork is pretty fine tuned,” said Kaepernick, who passed for 10,098 yards, threw for 82 touchdowns and rushed for another 59 scores in his four seasons. “I’m not a long-term project going into the NFL.”
